Help support Children’s Aid

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada supports programs that improve the lives of abused, neglected and high-risk children through Education, Enrichment and Prevention.

In Canada, more than 300,000 children are abused or neglected each year. Some have been victims of physical, emotional or sexual abuse, while others have been abandoned or exploited. From a very young age, these children have experienced fear, mistrust and feelings of worthlessness.

Since 1979, the foundation has been helping these children live safer and happier lives through three critical areas:

  • Education programs that give children a chance to pursue their dreams and build successful lives form themselves;
  • Enrichment programs that provide recreational and cultural opportunities so that disadvantaged children can experience healthy development; and
  • Prevention programs that provide support for families before abuse and neglect begin.

In 2017 the foundation launched Stand Up For Kids, their national campaign for child welfare, to facilitate a national movement to change the futures of kids in care. With the support of community allies, this movement will galvanize change for children and youth who have experienced abuse and neglect, transforming their prospects for a successful future. Through the Stand Up For Kids movement, we can stand up for kids in care who urgently need support and stand alongside former youth in care as they enter adulthood.

Since Newzapalooza first took to the stage 20 years ago, the event has raised more than $180,000 for the Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada.
