Candy Palmater is host of CBC Radio’s The Candy Palmater Show. “When I’m asked to describe myself,” she said in a 2016 Toronto Star profile piece, “I always say I’m a gay native recovered lawyer turned feminist comic, who was raised by bikers in the wilds of northern New Brunswick.” Newzapalooza is thrilled to also call her host of this year’s show.(Photo: Courtesy of Candy Palmater)
Paula Fletcher should feel right at home at Newzapalooza, since she represents The Opera House hood as Toronto’s Ward 30 city councillor. She also has musical chops and was part of a city hall guest band at a past Newzapalooza. Paula was elected in 2003. Welcome back, Paula! (Photo: Twitter)
Lana Gay of Indie 88 brings serious musical cred to Newzapalooza. She’s a Dolly Parton “superfan” and counts among her goals to “have my own nachos on the Sneaky Dee’s menu (like DFA and F**cked Up did.) Here’s the order: King’s Crown, no meat, add lettuce + hot sauce. Try it. It also needs a name, help a gal out?” Hear her Mondays to Fridays, from 2 to 7 pm at 88.1 on the FM dial. Andrea Houston is a Toronto journalist, human rights advocate and community organizer. She’s currently teaching the first-ever Queer Media course at Ryerson University’s school of journalism, a course she developed from scratch. As a journalist, she’s covered a range of issues affecting LGBTQ people on local, provincial, national and international levels. She’s also a long-time Newza fan and we couldn’t be happier to have her on our panel.
Roz Weston is an entertainment reporter with ET Canada and Kiss 92.5, where he co-hosts the Roz and Mocha Show. The internet informs us Roz was once a Howard Stern intern and his entire family recently made Toronto Life’s best dressed list. We’re pleased to have him on board and hoping to make him feel entertained. (Photo: Twitter)
